About

I'm a Software Engineer II at Gladly, where I build AI-powered features that help businesses better serve their customers. I followed a non-traditional path to software engineering, having spent 12 years as a sign language interpreter.

Working as a freelance interpreter meant juggling multiple scheduling systems, inconsistent invoicing processes, and tedious administrative overhead. I kept thinking: "There has to be a better way to do this." That curiosity led me to start learning to code in 2016 while still interpreting full-time. The more I learned, the more I realized I'd found a new passion.

I spent two years going through Flatiron School's full-stack bootcamp and finished in 2018. The job search that followed was brutal. I was trying to break into tech with no professional experience during one of the most challenging economic periods in recent history. But I kept building, kept learning, and kept applying.

That persistence paid off. I landed my first role at Thankful in 2022, and when we were acquired by Gladly eight months later, I hit the ground running. I've built custom Salesforce integrations that connected legacy systems to new products, rebuilt Playwright test suites that made rapid iteration safer, designed rich-text editor plugins, and much more.

I spent most of my career as a professional communicator, and I like to think I still am—just with a more technical focus now. I bring that same clarity and empathy to my work: understanding user needs, translating complex requirements into clean solutions, and building software that solves real problems. Whether it's interpreting between languages or between business requirements and code, it's all about making communication work.
